Autism Acceptance Month

Autism Acceptance Month

What’s up Nerds!

It’s April, which means it’s Autism Acceptance Month. We’re excited to announce that we are partnering with the Autistic Self Advocacy Network, or ASAN. ASAN is an organization, run by members of the Autistic community, who change the focus from “Autism Awareness” to “Autism Acceptance”. They realize that Autism can not, and should not be “cured”; however, they celebrate their neurodiversity, and seek to educate the world about what Autism really is. They focus on programs and philanthropic work, to help the lives of people living with Autism.

Honestly, they do so much great work for the Autistic community that we can’t even scratch the surface in this announcement. To find out more about who they are, what they stand for, and the awesome things they do, check them out at AutisticAdvocacy.org.

Here at The Noname Nerd, when we say that Nerds Belong Here, we mean ALL Nerds Belong Here. That includes the many members of our community and staff who are on the Autism spectrum. So, we’re excited to announce 3 big things we’re going to do this month to help support ASAN!

  1. For the month of April, we’ll be running a fundraiser drive for ASAN. You can find the Tiltify link in the description of this video. We’d encourage you to not just donate, but to share this fundraiser with your friends and family, and if you are a content creator, your community! You can donate today at bit.ly/n3asan. Your donations are safe, secure, and tax deductible.
  2. Again, for the month of April, a percentage of every purchase at NonameNerd.com will be donated to ASAN! So, not only will everything you buy help ASAN’s mission, but if you are an affiliate, any of your jerseys or merch that your community buys will help too! It’s a great way to promote your merch and help a great cause!
  3. We have an exciting community game night planned to support this cause too! Later this month, on Wednesday, April 20th, from 7-10pm US Eastern Standard Time, we’ll be hosting a fundraising stream and game night in MC Parks, hosted by some familiar faces around the community! MC Parks, a Java Minecraft server that has faithfully recreated some of your favorite theme parks from around the world, will be donating 50 cents for every free Autism Acceptance backpack purchased in game, so it’s a great free way to help! We’ll be hanging out in the MC Parks server, with anyone who wants to join us, and will also be streaming this event on our twitch and youtube. We’ll even have some fun with some giveaways and Disney World trivia between rides!

We’re excited to help support a great cause. Will you help us too?
